چکیده

Web and an Object-Relational Database Management System Alistair Dunlop, Mark Papiani and Tony Hey July 12, 1996 Abstract Reformatting information currently held in databases into Web pages requires signi cant e ort in both creating the pages initially and their subsequent maintenance. We avoid these costs by coupling a Web server indirectly to a multimedia database using additional software we have developed. This software layer translates Web requests for information into SQL queries, and generates Web pages dynamically to display the results to the user. The method we have developed allows users to query the database directly and browse for information.

MediaStore: World Wide Web Access to Multimedia Database Systems

The World Wide Web (WWW) is probably the most popular information system today. The availability of the software on different platforms and the user-friendly graphical interface make the World Wide Web an ideal basis for a database frontend to multimedia database systems. This paper presents the design and implementation of a World Wide Web based database browser with the capability to access t...

Real-time Payload Control and Monitoring on the World Wide Web

World Wide Web (W3) technologies such as the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and the Java object-oriented programming environment offer a powerful, yet relatively inexpensive, framework for distributed application software development. This paper describes the design of a real-time payload control and monitoring system that was developed with W3 technologies at NASA Ames Research Center. Bas...

WebDB: A System for Querying Semi-structured Data on the Web

The World-Wide Web can be viewed as a collection of semistructured multimedia documents in the form of Web pages connected through hyperlinks. Unlike most Web search engines, which primarily focus on information retrieval functionality, WebDB aims at supporting a comprehensive database-like query functionality, including selection, aggregation, sorting, summary, grouping, and projection. WebDB ...

Access Controls by Object-Oriented Concepts

A Retrospective on Semantics and Interoperability Research

Interoperability is a qualitative property of computing infrastructures that denotes the ability of sending and receiving systems to exchange and properly interpret information objects across system boundaries. Since this property is not given by default, the interoperability problem and the representation of semantics have been an active research topic for approximately four decades. Early dat...
